Intellectual property (IP) refers to creations of the mind, such as inventions, literary and artistic works, design and symbols, name and images used in commerce. The right given for intellectual property to its owner is called Intellectual Property Right like Copyright, Patent, Trademark.
COPYRIGHT
Copyright is the legal right given to its creator of a creative work who may print, copy, perform etc. a piece of original work such as a book, a song or a computer program.
TRADEMARK
Trademark is a type of intellectual property consisting of a recognizable sign, design or expression which identifies product or services of a particular source from those of the others.
PATENT
A patent is a form of intellectual property that gives its owner the legal right to exclude others from making, using, selling and importing an invention for a limited periods of years.
TRADE SECRETS
A trade secret is a formula , practice, process, design, patterns, instrument or the combination of information which is not generally known, by which a business can obtain an economic advantage over competitors and customers.(example- Formula of soft drinks is a trade secret for Coca-Cola).
An industrial design constitutes the ornament or aesthetic aspect of an article. A design may consist of three-dimensional features such as the shape or surface of an article, or two dimensional features such as pattern lines on colours.
